Homework over the Break

I trust that everyone is having a relaxing break, and I hope that this post does nothing to spoil that. Below are assignments that are pending when you return.

8th Grade:

We will complete part III of torturing Democracy on Tuesday the 6th. You should be finished part II(we started it in class).

The Phillipine Insurrection Packet is due when we return. Remember, you are concerned with how information regarding American conduct came to light, what we were accused of, and how we justified it.

Debate Checkpoint II is on 12 Jan. You need 5 more sources, notes on all of your sources, and a solid outline that addressed the five stock issues on the issue you were assigned.

Chapter 15:1 is Due on Tuesday, 6 Jan

7th Grade

Butterfly Revolution Essay is due on the day we return.

Chapter 8:1 is due Tuesday the 6th.

Debate Checkpoint II is on 12 Jan. You need 5 more sources, notes on all of your sources, and a solid outline that addressed the five stock issues on the issue you were assigned.

Prepare for History Mid Term Questions(wording is approximate):

What caused the American Revolution?

What were the most significant ideas between the Age of Exploration and the American Revolution?

How did technology shaped the world between 1500 and 1783?

6th Grade:

The Giver is due on the 12th of January. I will be verifying progress when we return, however, so be sure you are reading.

Select a speech for recitation project II.

Week of 15-19 December

7th and 8th Grade students, be sure to have your weekly progress sheets signed and returned to me on Monday. Also, be sure that you are working on your debate.

Anyone who will not be in school on the 22nd of December must make sure that I see the progress they have made before they leave for break. I can only grade what you hand in, and I will give zeros to anyone who fails to show me progress.

Because of the excitement of today's rehearsal, not everyone picked up their work today. I'll hand the rest of the papers out on Tuesday. Students should have all of their debate scores listed on the cover sheet. They should also have an essay and 2-4 history quizzes.

Continue reading and taking AR tests. You have less than three weeks to go in the trimester, and a number of you remain distressingly short on points.

Another idea..

Welcome back to school, everyone. For those of you who are keeping track, this is my fourth attempt to improve communications between parents and teachers in the last four years. So far, every piece of technology that I have tried has failed, either because it was far too time consuming to use or because it was too unstable. This forum should work well--I have experienced no difficulty in using it so far, and the concept is simple: navigate to this blog and look at the week's assignments. Each week I will also post the topics of the lessons that we'll be working on. I will post the next week's assignments as a new post every Friday. If you have questions or comments, feel free to use the comment function withing the blog.
